Last Meal of the Day:

It may be important for you to eat your last meal 2 to 3 hours before bed. It may also be very important for you to not consume any or very little carbohydrates or sugars at dinner.

I’ve had the opportunity to speak to a Nuclear Physicist about this topic recently. In answer to the question of how much radiation are we now being exposed to? His answer was about one time more the amount than we are naturally exposed to from the earth and sun. Meaning the amounts are insignificant and not a health threat.

The conclusion on this is that the bond between the mercury and the tissues of the fish was broken in the heating process of the cooked fish, hence causing the dog to absorb a larger percentage of the mercury. The bond between the mercury and the tissues of the raw swordfish was not broken and therefore the dog did not absorb much of the mercury at all.

This would mean that the radio active elements that bind to the proteins in our foods if consumed raw would mostly pass out of our systems, unabsorbed. This would mean that if the milk cows were consuming grasses and water with slight increases in radioactive elements in them and the milk then had increases in these elements; then leaving the milk raw would support most of the radioactive elements being excreted and not absorbed. Anatomy and function

Anatomically, the adrenal glands are located atop the kidneys, one on each side. They are surrounded by fat tissue and renal fascia. In humans, the adrenal glands are found at the level of the 12th thoracic vertebra. Each adrenal gland is separated into two distinct structures, the adrenal cortex and medulla, both of which produce hormones. The cortex mainly produces cortisol, aldosterone, and androgens, while the medulla chiefly produces epinephrine and norepinephrine. The average combined weight of the adrenal glands in an adult is 7 to 10 grams.^[1]

Cortex

The adrenal cortex is devoted to the synthesis of corticosteroid hormones from cholesterol. Some cells belong to the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and are the source of cortisol and corticosterone synthesis. Under normal unstressed conditions, the human adrenal glands produce the equivalent of 35–40 mg of cortisone acetate per day.^[2] Other cortical cells produce androgens such as testosterone, while some regulate water and electrolyte concentrations by secreting aldosterone. In contrast to the direct innervation of the medulla, the cortex is regulated by neuroendocrine hormones secreted by the pituitary gland and hypothalamus, as well as by the renin-angiotensin system.

The adrenal cortex comprises three zones, or layers. This anatomic zonation can be appreciated at the microscopic level, where each zone can be recognized and distinguished from one another based on structural and anatomic characteristics.^[3] The adrenal cortex exhibits functional zonation as well: by virtue of the characteristic enzymes present in each zone, the zones produce and secrete distinct hormones.^[3]

• Zona glomerulosa (outer) The outermost layer, the zona glomerulosa is the main site for production of mineralocorticoids, mainly aldosterone, which is largely responsible for the long-term regulation of blood pressure.
• Zona fasciculata Situated between the glomerulosa and reticularis, the zona fasciculata is responsible for producing glucocorticoids, chiefly cortisol in humans. The zona fasciculata secretes a basal level of cortisol but can also produce bursts of the hormone in response to adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from the anterior pituitary.
• Zona reticularis The inner most cortical layer, the zona reticularis produces androgens, mainly dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and DHEA sulfate (DHEA-S) in humans.

Medulla

The adrenal medulla is the core of the adrenal gland, and is surrounded by the adrenal cortex. The chromaffin cells of the medulla, named for their characteristic brown staining with chromic acid salts, are the body’s main source of the circulating catecholamines adrenaline (epinephrine) and noradrenaline (norepinephrine). Derived from the amino acid tyrosine, these water-soluble hormones are major hormones underlying the fight-or-flight response.

To carry out its part of this response, the adrenal medulla receives input from the sympathetic nervous system through preganglionic fibers originating in the thoracic spinal cord from T5–T11.^[4] Because it is innervated by preganglionic nerve fibers, the adrenal medulla can be considered as a specialized sympathetic ganglion.^[4] Unlike other sympathetic ganglia, however, the adrenal medulla lacks distinct synapses and releases its secretions directly into the blood.

Cortisol also promotes epinephrine synthesis in the medulla. Produced in the cortex, cortisol reaches the adrenal medulla and at high levels, the hormone can promote the upregulation of phenylethanolamine N-methyltransferase (PNMT), thereby increasing epinephrine synthesis and secretion.^[3]

Since Adrenal Burnout creates fatigue, what is it that reverses the fatigue?

If you want to alleviate the fatigue associated with Adrenal Fatigue, you’ll need to correctly feed the adrenals what they need to function best. The Cortex Portion of the Adrenals is only mildly involved in giving you energy. The Medulla portion of the Adrenal is majorly involved in giving you energy.

Most Adrenal Supplementation focuses on giving you things that feed the Cortex; such as Pregnenolone, DHEA, Adrenal Cortical Extract, Whole Adrenal Gland, Panothenic Acid and Ascorbic Acid. However these do not directly support the production of the primary energy molecule of the Adrenals. I have taken these products for years and noticed little improvement in my energy.

Another category of supplementation to support adrenal function and energy production is herbs. Herbs often recommended for the adrenals are Ginseng, Eleutherococcus senticosus, Licorice and Rhodiola. While all these herbs are considered supportive of adrenal health, my personal experience is they are stimulants. If you have a very weak adrenal energy producing system then stimulation will lead to depletion. Every time I take these herbal products I get fatigued very quickly as they deplete my adrenal energy.

Finally the portion of the Adrenals that dominates how much energy you have on a day-to-day basis is the Medulla. From the medulla you produce epinephrine and norepinephrine, these are the two primary energy producing hormones/neurotransmitters produced by your adrenal glands. The key building block molecule that the Medulla uses to convert into epinephrine and norepinephrine is phenylalanine. Actually it is Tyrosine, but phenylalanine converts into tyrosine. I mention phenylalanine as the building block because it works better than tyrosine. Why? Because if you give your body tyrosine it converts it too fast into the epinephrine and norepinephrine, if you give it phenylalanine it takes more time and it gives you a longer supply; since this is purely and amino acid it is a nutrient and non-stimulating. Therefore it does not lead to depletion.

Therefore if you want effective increases in energy and productivity you need to supplement with Free Form Amino Acids with an emphasis on Phenylalanine. For amino acids to work most effectively you need a few things in place. One is a complete formula that comprises the 10 essential and 6 more non essential amino acids. Active Chemistry of IMD

Disruptions in Natural Body–wide Detoxification

Intestinal inflammation inhibits elimination of toxins by causing a strong down-regulation of the body’s natural detoxification pathways.¹ Ironically, exposure to certain toxins contributes to intestinal inflammation. For example, the corrosion of amalgam mercury results in mercuric mercury (Hg^II) release. When swallowed with saliva, Hg^II can cause intestinal inflammation and initiate this negative feedback.²

Healthy Detoxification

Detoxification processes occur throughout the body. A healthy detoxification pathway typically involves three phases. Phase I involves oxidative activation of a toxin, preparing the toxin for conjugation to a hydrophilic biomolecule in Phase II. The conjugate is then moved through a series of Phase III transporters, leading to intestinal or kidney excretion.

Impaired Detoxification (Figure 1, right)

Intestinal inflammation disrupts detoxification in two ways.

Inhibiting the conjugation of toxins throughout the body and inhibiting transport of toxins into the intestines. Intestinal inflammation down-regulates Phase III transporters. When transporters down-regulate, signals are sent to turn down Phase II activity.³ Phase I activity, however, does not get down-regulated. Phase I oxidation continues but is no longer coupled to Phase II conjugation.

Inhibiting glutathione activity in the intestines. Phase III transporters bring glutathione (GSH) into the intestines from the liver.⁴ GSH is the primary anti-oxidant for quenching free-radical reactions in the intestines.⁵ A deficiency of GSH is a symptom of inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s Disease.⁶ Thus down-regulation of Phase III transporters can be self-propagating as oxidative stress stops the flow of this crucial antioxidant.

Recent research at the Nestle Cancer Center in Switzerland⁸ examined genetic expression of the body’s detoxification pathways and found that the small intestine and the liver work together tightly to coordinate detoxification and metabolism. They also found that glutathione activity is predominantly modulated from the small intestine. This finding supports our model of Phase III transporters in the intestines controlling Phase II pathways and points to the centrality of the intestines in any detoxification protocol.

Data Supporting IMD

Clinical trials of IMD have revealed profound benefits of use: Individuals with various autoimmune disorders reported reversal of disease–related symptoms while experiencing a continuous decrease in blood mercury. Quantitative and qualitative data gathered during these initial clinical trials indicate that Quicksilver Scientific’s Intestinal Metals Detox (IMD) (1) continuously lowers blood mercury levels, intercepting mercury in the enterohepatic pathway, (2) optimizes transporters that move glutathione and conjugated toxins into the intestines for excretion, and (3) alleviates some symptoms of pervasive diseases.

Evidence of Lowering Blood Mercury

Small-scale clinical trials were conducted with patients undergoing dental revision. In Clinic 1, After 7 days of treatment with IMD, patients experienced an average 23.9% decrease in total blood mercury (Table 1), compared with very little change seen in people who did not use IMD. Similar decreases were seen in Clinic 2 when IMD was used alone or in combination with CTI Science’s OSR.

Long–term data from Dr. Christopher Shade shows that, in using IMD along with dental revision, blood levels of both methyl (MeHg) and inorganic mercury (Hg^II) decrease steadily over a period of months. Blood Hg^II shows a two-phase decrease with a rapid initial decrease followed by slower decrease (Figure 2). Fecal excretion data (not shown) reveals release and excretion from bodily stores (from 1/30^th to 1/10^th of the blood burden of MeHg excreted per day); with blood MeHg levels constantly equilibrating with and tracking the body burden.

These decreases are especially significant when comparing these results to a large-scale baseline study of patients undergoing dental revision without any detoxification.¹⁴ This study showed that total blood mercury levels did not decrease following revision. Dental revision actually lead to an increase in MeHg over time (Figure 3), whereas patients who did not undergo dental revision had stable levels of blood MeHg and Hg^II. The increase in blood MeHg after revision is consistent with our model: Following removal of the intestine’s mercury source (i.e. amalgam), activity of Phase II enzyme Glutathione S-Transferase increases and moves mercury out of cells into the bloodstream.

Evidence for Opening of Phase III Transporters

Bilirubin is a breakdown product of hemoglobin and accumulation of bilirubin in the blood is the cause of jaundice and generally considered to be a sign of poor liver function. Extensive experimentation has shown that the biggest problem in bilirubin excretion is failure of the Phase III transporters to remove the conjugated bilirubin from the liver and into the intestines.⁴ This is the same transporter that moves glutathione and glutathione conjugates (including mercury-glutathione¹⁵) into the intestines and sulfate conjugates into the urine.¹⁶ There is abundant anecdotal evidence of a connection between mercury toxicity and bilirubin buildup (as seen on Gilbert Syndrome Web Forums, where flare-ups of GS are cited after amalgam placements or unprotected amalgam removals).

In our trials of the IMD on patients that have recently had dental revision, we have found rapid and dramatic lowering of blood bilirubin in patients who had elevated levels. This data supports the idea that IMD opens Phase III transporters and consequently up-regulates Phase II conjunctions. It is most likely that Phase III transporters up-regulate as a result of reduction of the inflammation and metals in the gut (Figure 1).

Alleviation of Symptoms of Pervasive Disease

Antidepressants Damage The Brain

Anti-depressants are among the most widely prescribed medications, in spite of their side-affects. Researchers from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia have found changes in brain cells in rats treated with large doses of several anti-depressant or anti-obesity drugs. In some cases, the cells shriveled or took on abnormal corkscrew shapes. Damaging brain cells to alleviate depression is a recipe for insanity. It should cause the entire medical community to stop prescribing such drugs as fluoxetine (Prozac) and sertraline (Zoloft). Animal studies were done on Chlorella found that those animals like pigs that did not produce the enzyme cellulase could not digest and benefit from Chlorella. Dr. Carl Reich MD grew up with a sickly Father who suffered from constipation, skin eruptions and numerous health issues. After becoming a doctor he devoted his practice to a nutritionally based one. He started his practice in 1950 and by 1970’s he’d come to the conclusion that the bodies acidity or alkalinity was the foundation of health or disease.

He’d found that when measuring he saliva pH of his patients that those with a pH between 7 and 7.5 were healthy. His patients with a pH between 6.5 and 6.0 were developing physical ailments. Those below with serious diseases had pH’s below 6.0. He placed his patients on nutritional supplementation and healthy diet to change their patient’s pH. Within a few weeks to months as the patient’s pH climbed to 7 to 7.5 their diseases would improve or go away completely.

With 2 cents worth of pH paper you can test your saliva pH. The ideal time to test is upon arising and again before dinner. Make sure and create some fresh saliva for the test. You spit onto the pH paper and if your in the high 6’s or in the ideal range of 7-7.4 the yellow pH paper will turn anywhere from a green to a blue. If the pH paper color stays a yellow color then you are in the acidic range. Most people are in the 6.6 or lower range. Diet alone for most people is incapable of creating an ideal alkaline pH.

Ever since commercial farming switched over from manure and mineral supplements for the soil, to no manure and chemicals as fertilizers the soils of this land has become deficient. Add to this the pollution in the air, water and food. Add to this the stress in today’s society and the electrical pollution from cell phone’s to computers to electrical fields coming off of machines of any kind and you have a recipe for a chronic acid pH.

In order to overcome the chronic acid pH it is essential to supplement your diet. Calcium is the main mineral needed by the body to neutralize acids. The four main minerals needed in large amounts by the body to neutralize acids and perform many other functions are Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium and Potassium.  Of these Calcium in an Ionized form is the kind needed to neutralize acids and restore the ideal 7-7.4-body pH.

To give you a greater understanding of how important the pH is I’ll explain how the cells of your body work to create energy. First off understand that blood pH has to be kept at 7.4 all the time to sustain life. If blood pH varies only a little bit in the acid direction you could die. So the body’s number one priority is the keep the blood pH at 7.4. This means that whenever your diet creates an acidic pH the body will steal calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and amphoteric amino acids or proteins for the neutralization of acids. That means if your saliva pH is below 7.0 then your body will be stealing these alkaline elements from both soft and hard tissues. That means that your glands, organs, cartilage, discs, and bones will be robbed, to meet the pH needs of the blood. Knowing this it then becomes a harmful thing to consume any acidic-based soda pop. Soda pops are high in Phosphoric acid and sugar both of which are acidifying and therefore a tremendous deterrent to health. Getting back to the topic of how your cells make energy.

The outside of the cell pH is supposed to be kept at 7.4; the inside of the cell is temporarily kept at a pH of 7.4. When the inside of the cell converts nutrients into energy, the waste by product of that work is acids. These acids build up inside the cell and reduce the intracellular pH down to 6.6. Once the intracellular pH drops down to 6.6 then the difference in pressure exists between the inside and outside of the cell. The pores on the surface of the cell then open up and allows for wastes to exit and nutrients to enter. The intracellular pH is then restored to 7.4 and the cycle repeats itself. This is one of the mechanisms of how the cell makes energy.

pH controls oxygen levels, when pH is below 6.6 oxygen levels in the body will be lower. When pH is in the 7-7.4 range oxygen levels will be kept higher. Oxygen is the gas required by every cell in the body to operate in an aerobic manner. That is to say to operate in an oxygenated environment. Oxygen is what enables the mitochondria to convert sugar in your cells in to energy (ATP). If oxygen is deficient the cell becomes inefficient at converting sugar into energy (ATP) and instead starts to make less energy and more lactic acid. More lactic acid fatigues the muscles and whole body energy producing mechanisms. The lactic acid also reduces the oxygen levels further. Have you ever exercised to the point of muscle fatigue? Have you ever tried to exercise beyond that level of fatigue? It is very hard and the reason is the muscles are being choked in a lactic acid rich environment and cannot make energy well in the absence of oxygen. Hence one of the benefits of creating an alkaline pH is that you can have a lot more energy and endurance. I just learned of an athlete who got onto our Alkalizer product and he immediately won his next two marathons in Hawaii and Southern California. When you have more of the ionized calcium in your body to neutralize the lactic acid produced from exercise you end up having higher oxygen levels for a longer time in your muscles and organs. You end up having a lot more endurance. So whether you’re an athlete or not the higher energy and endurance mean a higher quality of life and more productivity. When you’re more productive you can make more money. Hence success in all areas of life are linked to health.

When it comes to the disease process in the body, it always occurs in an acid pH. Once cells are low in oxygen and cannot make energy efficiently then lactic and other acids build up. The acids are free radicals that damage and rupture cells, causing inflammation. The acid pH causes cells to self-digest from the damage. Inflammation in the arterial wall creates a rough surface over which blood flows. This rough surface is what causes plaque to build up on the arterial lining. This occurs in the arteries only because they have a muscle lining. The veins do not and this is why no plaque occurs in veins but does in arteries. Hence plaque build up has an acid pH has a one of the primary causes. When the artery wall gets inflamed to it will also become scarred also known as sclerotic. Sclerotic is also used to mean sclerosis. So hardening of the arteries also known as Arteriosclerosis and is rooted in an acid pH. When you have hardened arteries your arterial walls are no longer flexible and pliable. Hence when the heart pumps blood through harden arteries the blood pressure increases from both the inflexibility of the artery and from the acid pH. The acid pH causes your body to hold onto water to dilute the toxicity of the acids. This increases blood water volume and is also a contributing factor in high blood pressure. I have had one client years ago testify that his high blood pressure reduced when started to alkalinize his body.

Why Is Calcium The Most Abundant Mineral In The Body?

No other mineral is capable of performing as many functions as is calcium. It is involved in almost every biological function. Eclectically is feeds the heart. It increases the amount of nutrients that can enter a cell. Calcium is essential for DNA replication. When it comes to the creation of the four nucleotides that make up DNA adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine or (A,C,G,T) pH is key. By keeping the cells of your body in this optimal pH range it insures the correct breakdown of glucose into energy and the creation of A, C, G and T nucleotides. What Form Of Calcium Can Your Body Most Easily Absorb?

So be aware there are ideal and less ideal forms of Calcium supplementation. From Early 2000 forward there has been an increase in knowledge and an ever higher and higher quality of products are being created for all of us to benefit from. While in the mid 90’s and up to 2003 or so, I was working with Marine Coral Calcium, Aloe Powder and Cod Liver Oil to restore an alkaline pH. What if I were to tell you that there are only 2 types of water—water that makes you age, get sick and die and water that makes you young and healthy. I know you’re probably thinking..that’s crazy, water is all the same…of course purified water is better than tap water but even if the water you are drinking is from the most high tech water purification system, it is still causing you to get sick, age and die. Now this is happening very slowly over time and you probably think it’s the normal process of aging so you don’t give it much thought. I am going to share with you one of the most simple yet important health discoveries about water that has ever been made.

We’ve all heard that eternal youth is a gift frequently sought in myth and legend and maybe you’ve heard stories of such things as The Philosopher’s Stone, the Universal Panaceas and The Elixir of Life. They are common throughout Eurasia and elsewhere. There are countless stories in myth and legend as well of a spring or fountain which gives eternal youth to all who drink from it. Tales of healing waters date as far back as the 3rd century. There are also past and present day stories of miracle waters or healing waters found all over the world. Lourdes France, Nordenau Germany , Baden Baden Germany ,[1] Nadana in India and Tlacote in Mexico are just a few of the many places where people have reportedly drunk the water and have been healed of many different ailments and diseases.

Is it just folklore and myth…or is there really something going on here that we need to take a closer look at?

The most famous story of healing waters dates back to 1858 in Lourdes, France where a young peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous says that the Virgin Mary appeared to her and told her to drink from the stream. Bernadette was only guided to a trickle of water so she knelt down and dug through the mud until some water appeared. Since that time pilgrims have traveled to Lourdes to drink from the healing spring. Many believers and non believers alike have reported partial and complete healings from their ailments.

Since the Roman times people have been bathing in the springs in a town called Baden Baden. In 1847 the ruins of the Roman Vapour Baths were found well preserved. Baden means bath or bathe in German. These waters rise up form a depth of around 6500 feet below the ground. These thermal waters have been effective in the treatment of:

• chronic inflammatory rheumatic conditions – rheumatoid arthritis
• progressive degenerative joint and spine diseases – arthritis
• post-operative treatment and locomotive injuries
• functional circulatory disturbances
• nervous system disorders
• gynecological disorders
• respiratory tract disorders

In 1992 a spring of very pure water was found, in Germany , 100 km east of Dusseldorf. It was discovered in a cave in a un-used slate mine at Nordenau, district of Schmalenberg, a popular ski resort. The spring was soon investigated by experts who found that it was highly charged with energy. Analysts at the German Fresenius laboratories tested the water, finding it very pure and clean. They also found that it was 8% lighter than ordinary water. Another German laboratory, Hygene Institut des Ruhrgebiets Gelsenkirchen, has also certified the water to be 8 % lighter than ordinary water. Stranger still, water at the spring spirals to the left, but five meters further on it spirals to the right.[2]

The land belongs to Theo Tommes, whose Hotel Tommes lies below the quarry. In January 1992, Mrs. Tommes went into the quarry to look for a spot to use as a wine cellar. Entering a dark, damp cavern, she became aware of a bright white light that filled the whole cave.

When it was first discovered, according to Mrs. Tommes’ mother, small crosses of light could be seen within the glowing white light.

Scientific tests have been carried out on Nordenau’s water in Germany which proved that 30% of people with ailments who consumed the water were totally healed, and 28% saw a marked improvement in their condition.

At almost the same time a very similar story is told in Mexico . A small village 150 miles north of Mexico City called Tlacote. There in 1991, on a chicken ranch belonging to Jesus Chahin Simon, his dog, Lucas, was cured of wounds after lapping up some muddy water. This did not go unnoticed so some humans who worked on the ranch daringly drank some and had improvements in their health conditions as well. Chahin tested the water, with great success, on himself and his farm animals, then decided to make it available to everyone, free of charge. The government helped him set up a pump.

As many as 10,000 people a day often line up at his gate, some in wheel chairs or walkers. Chahin has kept scrupulous medical records, and cures of diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma, arthritis and many other ailments are well-documented. In addition, the water has increased the productivity of the ranch. Plants and trees bear extra crops, an unusual occurrence for an area with a cool climate.

According to a CBS report, ‘Up to the Minute’ (KENS-TV, Aug. 5, 1993), the water was found to be 44 grams or 4.4 % lighter than conventional water, measured in kilograms per liter.

The almost identical story is repeated yet again in a village about 150 km north of Delhi, India , called Nadana. Water began gushing out of a deserted tube well in September of 1992. Some local villagers who bathed in the water reported that the “medicinal” and “magical” qualities of the well cured their skin diseases. As the word spread, a steady stream of visitors now come to receive the curative powers of the water. A five-year-old polio victim was reportedly cured to a large extent after bathing there. Most people who go into the water report physical improvements of some type. The owner of the well, Mr. Mamraj, one of the village leaders, was reportedly offered a large sum of money from people who wished to buy the well. He rejected the proposal, saying he wanted to use the well for the people, not for making money. [3]

Researchers have found that these waters all have one thing in common: they are lighter than ordinary water. What exactly causes the water to be lighter may not be fully understood at this point in time. One thing seems to be clear…the lighter the water, the more healing power it has.

Free Radical Damage…Another Cause of Aging

Free radical damage also causes aging. Free radical damage is also called oxidation. We can see examples of oxidation all the time in our daily lives. They occur at different speeds. When we see a piece of iron rusting in the presence of Oxygen, or a slice of apple turning brown, we are looking at examples of relatively slow oxidation. When we look at a fire, we are witnessing an example of rapid oxidation. We now know that oxidation involves an exchange of electrons between two atoms. The atom that loses an electron in the process is said to be “oxidized.” The one that gains an electron is said to be “reduced.” In picking up that extra electron, it loses the electrical energy that makes it “hungry” for more electrons…it more or less stabilizes.

In biochemistry, the free radicals of interest are often referred to as reactive oxygen species (ROS) because the most biologically significant free radicals are oxygen-centered. But not all free radicals are ROS and not all ROS are free radicals. For example, the free radicals superoxide and hydroxyl radical are ROS, but the ROS hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is not a free radical species, however the term “Free-radical theory of aging” usually refers to these compounds as well.

The Free Radical Theory of Aging and Disease

In the 1950’s Denham Harmon put out a theory of aging that was pretty far fetched for it’s time but is generally accepted now.

In a very simplified explanation, human beings are composed of specialized cells that perform specific functions (i.e. skin cells, heart cells, muscle cells, etc). After years and years these cells become more and more damaged. Eventually, the collective cells that make up organs become so damaged the organ fails to function, such as the loss of vision or hearing as people age. This process of damage and dysfunction of the vital organs eventually leads to death.

Most of this damage is caused by free radicals. Free radicals are minute chemical particles (atoms or groups of atoms) which are frequently the by-products of chemical processes. For example, when two chemicals join together to form another chemical, some particles are eliminated and these can be free radicals. Free radicals have at least one unpaired electron, causing the chemical particle to be unstable. To become stabilized the particle must obtain an electron from some another chemical…like I said above, it’s hungry for electrons. By taking an electron from another chemical, the free radical becomes a stable chemical, but the other chemical now becomes a free radical and its chemical structure is changed. It must then steal an electron from somewhere so it can stabilize. Thus the chain reaction (of atoms stealing electrons) continues and can be thousands of events long.

Because we usually notice aging in our skin, let me explain how that happens. If a free radical steals an electron from one of the proteins that is contained in a strand of collagen (rather than a loose protein), it causes a change in the chemical structure of the collagen at that point and causes a break in the collagen strand. This is damage. Once a bundle of collagen has multiple points of damage which occurs over years, the strand of collagen becomes dysfunctional and loses its elastic quality. The skin begins to sag. Over time free radical damage happens to the various components of the body and this damage is progressive.

Free radicals chip away at cell walls, molecule by molecule, making holes. The cells leak and lose their chemical balances. Subsequent free radicals are able to chip away at DNA, making cells dysfunctional. If this damage affects cellular DNA, the cell may malfunction and this is what happens cell by cell over the lifetime of a human being, ultimately causing entire organs to malfunction, because their cells malfunction. If the DNA of basal keratinocytes (a component of the skin), for example, are damaged, the cells may become dysfunctional and the basal cells will reproduce cells that are equally as damaged and dysfunctional, resulting in the aging and dysfunction of the skin and its various components. Aging is simply the progression of damage, caused by free radicals.

One free radical can initiate tens of thousands of chain reactions that cause tremendous harm (destroy cell membranes, disrupt crucial processes in the body, reprogram DNA, form mutant cells and more). Free radicals are a major contributing factor to nearly all diseases.

Causes of Free Radicals

Environmental pollution (from air, water, household chemicals, asbestos, pesticide residues, & other man-made pollutants including the out-gassing of plastic and other synthetics)

• Preservatives, Colorings, and other food additives
• Metabolic Wastes
• Smoking and passive smoke
• Exposure to excess heat or cold
• Medical Treatment including medications
• Alcohol
• Bacteria or Infections
• Parasites
• Chemotherapy & Radiation
• Prescription & Over The Counter Drugs
• Exercise
• Lack of Truly Clean & Fresh Air
• Radiation (including electromagnetic radiation from anything electric such as outside power lines; wires in your home/work, TVs, computer monitors, etc.
• Diet- The only way to avoid free radicals from food is to eat a 100% raw food diet. Few people are willing or able to do this so the next best thing is to neutralize as many free radicals from a cooked food diet as possible with electron donors for water or supplements.
• Heat processed or cooked vegetable oils are potent free radicals and a major cause of plaque accumulation in the arteries.

Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, degenerative Brain Diseases, Strokes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Cataracts, Macular Degeneration, Diabetes and Inflammatory Diseases all have free radical damage as a contributing factor.

The best strategy to minimize their negative effects on us is a two fold approach. Avoid exposing yourself to things that create free radicals and support your body in neutralize them.

How to Neutralize Free Radicals

Antioxidants convert toxic free radicals into harmless elements. Therefore, having high levels of bio-compatible antioxidants in your system causes fewer detoxification “side-effects” than those produced when the body has to eliminate, rather than neutralize, toxins, as in water fasting and other forms of bodily cleansing and detoxification that don’t incorporate bio-compatible antioxidants.

Antioxidants are chemicals that are able to donate an electron to a free radical, stabilizing the free radical and stopping the chain of chemical reactions and potential damage. Antioxidants are able to donate the missing electron to a free radical without the antioxidant becoming a free radical. In this manner antioxidants prevent free radical damage or in other words, they slow the aging and disease process. That’s the reason you are told to eat so many fruits and vegetables, preferably in their raw state…because they are the best source of food antioxidants.

In its own defense the body manufactures its own antioxidants. Due to a highly compromised environment, non-ideal food, etc., people have far more free radicals and far less metabolic antioxidant enzymes (decreasing with toxicity, nutrient deficiency and unhealthy food consumption) than are needed for optimum health. Our natural free radical defense systems have been severely weakened, drained, and overrun. If you think you don’t need extra protection (even on the best diet), think again!

Now there is a very easy and inexpensive way to neutralize the free radicals that you are exposed to everyday.

Introducing Hydrogen – The Real Fountain of Youth

It has been published all over the World, mostly by Japanese scientists and researchers, that the ideal and most effective scavenger of free radicals is Active Hydrogen (H-)! How Your Body Creates Energy

Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Winner of the Nobel Prize in Metabolic Chemistry says “Hydrogen is the fuel of life.” All the food we eat does one thing for us. It releases hydrogen which is burned by oxygen in the final chemical reaction releasing the energy that makes ATP, the fuel that actually runs our bodies. Carbohydrates are one-third carbon, one-third hydrogen and one-third oxygen. We have enzymes in our body called dehydrogenases and their purpose is to loosen hydrogen on the food we eat so that the hydrogen (hydrogen is the fuel) can be burned by oxygen, releasing energy, and the carbon and oxygen left on the carbohydrate turns into carbon dioxide gas which we breathe out and the plants breathe that in. The Electron Content of the Water After Adding One Capsule of Mega H

Pure Electron 4 Distilled Water has a positive charge to it like all water does. After adding one capsule of Mega H to the water the charge becomes a minus -570 or so. This is a measurement referred to as the Oxidative Reduction Potential or ORP for short. The ORP of Mega H is the highest I’ve ever tested. When I test the ORP of Ionized Water that has been ionized for 30 minutes the ORP is minus -311 or so right after making; after one hour the ORP has declined to minus -277.
